What fits in 30 minutes

Half an hour is the length of a calendar slot, and it fits more than a Pomodoro:

  • A workout or a run.
  • A full practice section of an exam paper.
  • A meeting with a hard stop, shown on screen so everyone sees it.
  • Reading a long article properly and writing three takeaways.
  • One focused block of writing or code.

Day math: twelve 30-minute blocks with 5-minute breaks and two longer breaks fit in an 8-hour day, with about 45 minutes left over for lunch.

30 minute timer with relaxing music

Half an hour is a good length for a relaxed reading session, an unhurried workout cool-down, or a calm work block when you do not want to push. The Nova Ambient playlist runs about 28 minutes of slow, instrumental pieces; add rain underneath and it carries you to the chime. For a class, Lo-Fi gives a soft beat most students find familiar.
